Pancreatic Metastases from Renal Cell Carcinoma

Renal cell carcinoma (Grawitz tumour, conventional renal cell carcinoma) represents the most frequent malignant tumour of the kidneys in adulthood. Metastasis occurs in more than 25% of cases, most frequently involving the bones (osteolytic metastases), lungs, brain, liver, adrenal glands and contralateral kidney. A single solitary metastasis occurs only rarely. Metastasis of the primary tumour occurs even many years after its removal. Pancreatic metastases are very rare and only anecdotal reports exist in literature.
